Have you also noticed how many Inbound Marketers are now on the 'bandwagon' with their Webinars on 'How To Self-Publish To Kindle'?
I've worked with Authors both published and self-published and the same is true of both kinds, they simply don't have the time and more importantly the skills to publish to Kindle. Virtual Assistants are the perfect solution to their problems - they are usually highly motivated and trustworthy individuals who will get the task done in a fraction of the time it takes mere mortals.
The other important bonus is that a Virtual Assistant will only charge for the time they are on the job, and will use time-tracking tools to gather the hours for billing. You can't say fairer than that, can you?
Thanks for your insightful post. Its was instructive and entertaining.
I love Allison Pearson's work and warmly recommend it to all. ;o)

Excellent.

Thanks Filemot, that Trademark checker is a very useful step for aspiring business folk to take.

In the same vein, I think the Companies House check is also useful in determining just how unique your chosen brand is: ' The WebCHeck service offers a searchable Company Names and Address Index free of charge which enables you to search for information on more than 2 million companies.'

Totally agree. If you want to develop goodwill the magnetic force that brings in trade, you certainly need to understand branding, however small you are. Small businesses usually have small budgets for marketing and I doubt that it's worth registering more than the domain you really want for your own website - a load of defensive domain names will just be a burden to administer. If you have ambitions to build your goodwill beyond your local area or grow your acorn into a global business, then the best way to start with protection is by registering your brand as a trademark. This will allow you to fend off anyone who gets too close and if you do it in the early days you'll find out if anybody does not like your choice of brand when you still have the option of changing it. Of course, all the wise business virgins will have done their research first to check out that their choice won't lead to conflict. < a href= "http://www.businesslink.org/bdotg/action/cntc*>Here is a natty way to check for the UK

In order to gauge what is best value for your target group you might consider designing a Survey to ask a few direct questions in this regard.
